Are birds friends?

Are birds friends?

If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably also occasionally wondered, are birds friends? Do they have a group they prefer to lunch with at the feeder or fly next to?

Vulturine guineafowl sure do! According to a recent study, these African birds are regular social butterflies. They live in a large group – this numbered over 400 birds – that sticks together; their blue plumage makes them hard to miss, so this tactic provides much-needed strength in numbers. They interact with each other and keep track of their relationships with hundreds of others, and form smaller groups that prefer to hang out and do things together. Who they’re friends with is totally up to personal preference. These cliques number between 13 and 65 birds, which is quite the friendship group!
